- Homestay with Costa Rican families. Students will each be placed in a private room with a delightful family to ensure maximum opportunity to practice the language.

- Four Day Tours: The Butterfly Farm, Café Britt coffee factory, Scarlet Macaw Refuge, and local craft market in San Jose
- Weekend Excursion to Arenal Volcano: 2 night/3 day tour includes transportation from San Jose, hotel, entrance fees into park and resort, and all meals. Visiting Tabacon Hot Springs, the active Arenal volcano and Fortuna Waterfall. (based on triple rooms)
- Weekend Excursion To Tambor Beach: Located on the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific Ocean, this 5-star, all-inclusive resort is a great place to end the trip. Includes hotel, private transportation, hourly activities and all meals. (based on triple rooms)

COSTA RICA JULY 5-17, 2012:
JULY 5: LEAVE SACRAMENTO FOR COSTA RICA. Day spent in travel. Arrive in the evening and transfer to nearby hotel for one night.
JULY 6: TRIP TO ARENAL VOLCANO, FORTUNA WATERFALL AND TABACON HOT SPRINGS: After breakfast, we will leave for our trip to Arenal. Be ready in the lobby by 9:15am with one smaller bag. Leave the rest of your luggage at the hotel. We will arrive at La Fortuna town around 1:45pm. After checking into the Hotel Arenal Springs, free time. At 5:30pm, we will head to the hot springs for dinner and swimming. Overnight.
JULY 7: ARENAL. Breakfast between 8 and 9am. Then, we will visit the beautiful rainforest Fortuna Waterfall at 9:30. We will take a short hike to the falls and then have time for swimming & photos. Lunch around 12:30pm. The rest of the day is free to swim at the hotel or return to the hot springs. Pizza for dinner.
JULY 8: ARENAL: Free time in the morning after breakfast. Be ready in the lobby at 12pm with all your bags to go have lunch and return to San Jose. Arrive at 6pm for dinner with families.
JULY 9: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! The families will take students to school today at 10am. We will have an orientation and placement test. We will have time to change money and have lunch at the mall before class. CLASSES FROM 1PM TO 4PM. SALSA DANCE CLASS FROM 4PM TO 5PM. Return to the families by 6pm.

JULY 10: CAFÉ BRITT COFFEE FACTORY TOUR: Pick-ups begin at 7:30am. This award-winning musical tour explains the importance of coffee in the region in a musical show. Return to San Jose for lunch. SCHOOL IN THE AFTERNOON FROM 1PM TO 4PM. SALSA & CONVERSATION CLASSES FROM 4PM TO 6PM.
JULY 11: BUTTERFLY FARM: Pick-ups begin at 7:15am. This tour visits a butterfly garden with a tour of the site and an explanation of the life of a butterfly. Return to San Jose for lunch. CLASS FROM 1 TO 4PM. SALSA & COOKING FROM 4PM TO 6PM. Bring your dress clothes to school! WELCOME DINNER AT 6PM. We will leave from the school for the elegant restaurant that overlooks the city lights. Dinner is an all-you-can-eat buffet of typical foods. The show will last 1 ½ hours. We will drop students off at homes at 10:30pm.

JULY 12: SCARLET MACAW PROGRAM: Pick-ups begin at 8am. We will visit a Scarlet Macaw Breeding Program and Refuge to learn about these rare birds. Return to San Jose for lunch. CLASS FROM 1 TO 4PM. SALSA DANCING AT 4PM & CONVERSATION AT 5PM. Return to the families’ at 6pm.
JULY 13: CRAFT MARKET & GRADUATION. We will visit a crafts market for souvenir shopping, followed by lunch at the mall CLASS FROM 1 TO 4PM, FOLLOWED BY DANCING. GRADUATION AT 4PM. We will head to the movies to celebrate the end of class. Return home at 8pm for dinner.
JULY 14-16: TAMBOR BEACH ADVENTURE (ALL-INCLUSIVE) Pick-ups begin at 7am. We will travel by bus and ferry to this deluxe 5-star hotel located on the Pacific Ocean. There are activities, such as beach volleyball, dance classes, ping-pong tournaments, beach soccer, dart tournaments, etc. We will spend supervised time at the beach and pool. All meals, drinks and activities are included. Return to the families for the last night around 6pm.
JULY 17: We will pick up around 6:45am for our trip to the airport for the flight back to the U.S. at 10am.
