Check out the Frog at the famous University of Salamanca-see if you can see it on the University´s façade. It is supposed to bring you good luck in your studies and in love.

Listen to “Las Tunas” in the Plaza Mayor in the evenings. These are musical groups formed by different students from various departments in the school. The tradition goes back hundreds of years when these students sang for money to pay their studies.

Try the chorizo or jamon that Salamanca is famous for in one of the little tapa bars around town. Check any bar along the Plaza Mayor.

Take a stroll over/by the Roman Bridge at the end of town. The bridge was built almost 1000 years ago!

Climb the gothic Tower of the New Cathedral for an excellent view of the city. It is located close to the school and is visible from almost everywhere in Salamanca. It is is next to the “Old Cathedral” built in 1120. Cost is 2 Euros.

The Museum of Salamanca is open from Tues to Sat from 10am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm. It is located at the Patio de Escuelas, #2 inside the university grounds. 1.20 Euros.

Go Sangria-tasting along the Rua Mayor. A lot of the souvenir shops will offer you a taste of this famous Spanish wine-fruit drink.

Look for the white storks, another Spanish summer tradition. Originally from Africa, the white storks(ciguena blanca in Spanish) migrate North and make their huge nests atop churches, belltowers, trees, etc. They are a protected species.
